Gin no Saji

8.75 (very good) Himoru Arakawa is probably my favorite manga artist ever. I really loved her past work, like Fullmetal Alchemist and Demons of Shangai, and her latest manga does NOT disappoint. Good characters are obviously everything to me, and with such a character-heavy series they certainly don't disappoint in Silver Spoon. Hachiken in particular is unique and complex, having to go through trials in his life that I don't often see occur in a lot of manga. The entire CAST in fact is very rich, funny, and entertaining. Plus it's always neat learning about working with animals on the side! Who knew a series about farming could be so much fun?

9.25 (very good) Kimi to Boku is one of my favorite series. The subplots were well-done and heart-felt, the characters were believable and loveable, and every episode gave me such a fuzzy feeling inside. Or made me cry. Every character is rich and interesting and unique (I especially love how the twins are two completely different people who just happen to look the same, easily making them my favorite fictional twins ever). I really wished they would pick the anime up for another season, but it still stands strong with two seasons. Thank goodness for the on-going manga!

Ouran High School Host Club

8.25 (good) Ouran is one of those series that, at first, I thought I'd hate. I mean it's got literally EVERYTHING I normally hate in anime (the pretty boys, the sparkles, the high-school overdone romance, the over-the-top dramatics, ect). And yet by the end of it all, it became one of my favorite series somehow. I kind of like to think that it almost makes fun of itself and it's genre, and does it brilliantly to keep it fresh and unique. The characters themselves start out as incredibly stereotypical and cliche (they even say it themselves at first), and yet they're then quickly fleshed out to be deep, complex, REAL characters. Tamaki in particular fast became my favorite. It's a really clever, smart, and witty series and one that I'll easily suggest to anyone, regardless of the genres they usually like. I honestly believe everyone should give it a try.

Victorian Romance Emma

8.50 (very good) I really love Emma, both the anime and the manga. The manga especially blew me away with it's gorgeous art style, and inspired me to check out (and soon love) every other piece of work done by Kaoru Mori. The characters were probably my favorite part of the series though, and their individual subplot relationships UNDER the overlaying romance between Emma and William (like the subplot of William and his father, Emma and her multiple mistresses, ect). It's a really wonderful story, admittedly one that actually surprised me greatly (since the initial summary isn't all that interesting-sounding).
